Family-owned and operated business adds distinct culture and knowledge to shopping center
Leesburg, Va. – Under the Olive Tree will officially open for business at Village at Leesburg in Leesburg, Va. on August 23.
Under the Olive Tree is a family-owned and operated business specializing in fresh, single varietal ultra-premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars. They will host a grand opening celebration for their retail and tasting room on August 23 at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Umstattd of Leesburg will lead the ribbon cutting ceremony. The restaurant will open by early September.
In the retail and tasting room, customers can try the extra virgin olive oils before purchasing their favorite. Aside from the extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars, they also carry organic spices, salts, honeys and preserves.
“Our main focus is freshness,” said General Manager, Frances Beraud. “Our balsamic vinegars are all made by the same family in Modena, Italy, who produce them as a special recipe. Our extra virgin oils are rotated every six months, based on the biannual olive harvest. We maintain a very high quality standard for all our products. Each extra virgin olive oil has to pass a chemical analysis in order for us to bring it to our store.”
The restaurant will serve small, tapas style meals to-go. All the food will be prepared in-house, using the family’s own products, many of which are for sale in the retail location. Under the Olive Tree also plans to offer an array of free educational olive oil classes monthly, such as Olive Oil 101, led by Marie Claire Beraud, one of only two people in the United States to be a Certified Olive Oil Sommelier. They will also host events, like Spanish Tapas night, in which they prepare appetizers, entrees and desserts using only their products, allowing the community to learn how to utilize them in various forms of cooking.
This is their second location in the D.C. area. The family opened their first location inside the Tysons Corner Mall in Tysons Corner, Va. in March of 2012.
“This is our passion,” said Beraud. “We love sharing all things culinary, educational and food related with whomever we can. We chose Village at Leesburg due to its versatility, catering to small, local businesses and the generosity of the community.”
